Laurie McDonough, LABMED Past President

Laurie is the Assistant Director of Education at Mystic Aquarium and Institute for Exploration in Mystic, Connecticut. In addition to getting to play with beluga whales and petting penguins, Laurie is in charge of the college intern program and teaches courses concerning coastal issues and biological oceanography. She is continuing her work on a Ph.D in the area of Paleoceanography at Brown University. Her animal family includes four Labrador Retrievers, Jumper the black cat and an Amazon Parrot named Jackie, who whistles for the dogs just for fun.

When she's not working on LABMED business, Laurie's other interests include Irish genealogy and spending time by the ocean. She is also active in her community Land Trust.
