The Quilting Bee

Spirit of 1996

Artist: Dianne Walsh
Technique: Photo transfer, embelishments
Artist's comments: The inspiration for this block was the famous "Spirit of '76" painting showing three veterans of the American Revolution: one holding the flag, one with a fife, and one with a drum. LABMED is the Spirit of 1996 and so I put together a computer-generated graphic showing three injured Labs with fife, drum, and LABMED flag. Of course, that's our Buddy holding the flag!

This graphic was then printed on iron-on transfer paper, ironed onto the fabric, and trimmed with red and white gingham ribbon and star-shaped buttons.
