The Quilting Bee

Artist: Wendy Hudson
Technique: Appliqued, using solid and patterned 100% cotton fabric. The pieces were first fused to the background, then hand stitched around the edges with embroidery floss in chain stitch. Details were added in a combination of chain, stem and satin stitch.
Artist's comments: I wanted to make a square with a distinctly Minnesota feel. The lakes and woods are central to our state identity. To be fair, I included all three colors, but the black beauty in the foreground is my very own labbie, Brenna, a Candlewood field-type who prefers tennis balls to ducks (and food, and air).
