Angel4, November 2002

Angel4

In October 2002, Angel's rescuer contacted LABMED for help in paying for the repair of a broken leg in a 3 month old Lab-mix puppy. She told us that she monitors a section of the Bluebird Trail throughout Amish farms in the New Castle, PA area, and was aware of a litter of Lab-mix puppies born on July 14. She assisted with the care and feeding of the mother and eight pups when the owner did not appear able to provide for them properly.

One day when she went to feed the canine family, she found one puppy lying on the ground, unable to get up. She picked up the puppy and took it to a vet. The little black female pup had a broken left rear leg that required pinning by an orthopedic surgeon. The surgery was performed promptly, and then Angel's rescuer contacted several rescue organizations as well as LABMED for help in paying the bill. A substantial contribution from the rescuer, along with financial assistance from LABMED, Lake Erie Labrador Retriever Rescue and Promises for Pets, covered the cost of the surgery and post-operative care for Angel.
