Annie, March 2002

Annie Annie, a small yellow female Lab, was found in a shelter in Monroe, MI by a member of WAG Animal Rescue. This sweet, loving girl had evidently been neglected in her previous home - a visit to the vet revealed that she was suffering from whipworm, giardia, heartworm and malnutrition.

Plans were made to treat Annie for the whipworm and giardia and to put her on a nutritious diet before treating the heartworm infestation. WAG was able to cover the costs of Annie's initial medical care, but asked LABMED for help in funding the heartworm treatment. We were happy to provide the funds to help this lovely Lab back to good health.

Excellent food and loving care worked wonders for Annie - in just a few weeks she had gained 10 pounds and regained much of her energy. She would be in good shape to withstand the heartworm treatment when the time came. Annie's foster mom wrote: "Thank you so much for your help. We really appreciate it, as does Annie. She is really a doll and if I wasn't a cat foster, I would keep her myself." Once she has completed the heartworm treatment, Annie will be ready to find a new family to take good care of her.
