Berkeley2

Berkeley is a 5 year old black male Lab who was rescued from an animal shelter near Tulsa, OK. Berkeley is one of the many Labs and Lab-mixes whose heartworm treatment was funded with help from LABMED, and he is one of the lucky dogs who can look forward to a healthy life as long as he receives a heartworm preventative on a regular basis. Heartworm is spread to dogs by mosquito bites and is detected by a blood test.

Berkeley was placed in a foster home - but his foster family quickly fell in love with him and adopted him! Berkeley recovered well from his heartworm treatment, according to an update from his new family:

"I took Berkeley in for his 30 day follow up and the vet said he looked and sounded good, her only comment was she wished his gums were a little more pink but wasn't too concerned about it considering his energy level was high, and he was eating well, (really well).  He has gained 5 pounds since I've had him. He sleeps on our bed now along with Josie (another dog) and our cat Klanci. At least we're warm!"
