Billy, November 2002

Billy

Billy's life took a turn for the better on the day that he made friends with a kindly man who was fishing near Memphis, TN. The big chocolate Lab had obviously lost a very bad fight while he was a stray. He had severe puncture wounds on the back of his neck and ear which were badly infected. The fisherman turned Billy over to a rescue worker who arranged to foster Billy and provide him with much needed veterinary care.

Billy's wounds could not be stitched up because of the infections, and needed to be flushed out several times a day. Poor Billy also turned out to be heartworm positive and suffering from a urinary tract infection. During all of the cleaning and scrubbing of his wounds, Billy simply wagged his tail in true Labrador fashion.

Billy was provided with antibiotics for his various infections; he was neutered and started on heartworm treatment. A wonderful new foster home was found for him where he could recuperate quietly from the heartworm treatment. LABMED was contacted for help with Billy's medical bills, and we were happy to contribute to Billy's recovery. Billy is looking forward to the day when he can start his new life in good health.
