Success StoriesBlackie 4, June 2004Blackie 4 is the June Max's Fund Dog.
Blackie was a 3-year-old stray, hit by a car on a busy interstate in Tennessee. Hurt and confused, he was picked up by a state trooper, who took him to a nearby vet clinic. The vet determined that Blackie had multiple fractures of his left and right femurs -- some so severe, there were fragments and pieces broken off. After extensive surgery and round-the-clock care, Blackie started standing two weeks after his surgery. The state trooper who rescued Blackie took a special interest, and watched his recovery very closely. . . . possibly wanting to adopt Blackie himself. Blackie also had another prospective home a few weeks after his surgery, a retired veterinarian whose own Lab had recently passed away. Happy days ahead for Blackie! |
