Success StoriesBoone, March 2003
Boone (a littermate of Scout2) was a 3-1/2 month old, newly adopted black pup in the northern Virginia area when he, like Scout, became seriously ill. His new family took him to the vet right away, and for a while, it looked as if Boone might not survive his illness. Boone showed many of the symptoms of parvo, but he had some additional symptoms not consistent with this disease. For one thing, he had odd little sores around his mouth. Then, to further complicate matters, Boone had an allergic reaction to the first antibiotic he was given. Boone was a fighter, though, and his will to live would not be denied. His vet started treating him with a different antibiotic and Boone began to improve. Within a few days, he was eating and had recovered enough to go home with his family. Because Boone was a rescue pup that became ill within one week of adoption, LABMED was able--and happy--to help with this puppy's medical expenses. We hear that he is doing well and has been having a great time playing in the snow this winter with the children in his family. |
