Brownie, March 1998

BrownieApproximately 4 to 6 years old, this athletic chocolate boy was a stray who spent two weeks in the county pound before coming to the attention of Lake Erie LRC. Upon examination by the rescue's veterinarian, Brownie was found to be suffering from heartworm infestation but otherwise in general good health. LABMED provided the funding for Brownie's treatment and a full recovery is expected.

Brownie is in foster care now and will be available for placement in a loving home when his treatment and recovery period are completed. He exhibits wonderful Labrador temperament and is described by his rescuers as a "nice, laid-back" dog.

Update May 1998

Brownie was successfully treated for heartworm and was recently neutered. He is still looking for that special someone who will adopt him and appreciate his wonderful qualities as an "older" dog.

Update: June, 2001

An update from Brownie's new home:

"We first met Brownie at Crow Haven Farm outside of Cleveland, OH where Brownie was staying with his foster mom. Brownie was successfully treated for heartworm through funding by LABMED. It didn't take long for my wife, young son and I to fall in love with this mellow, friendly lab. We adopted Brownie in August of 1998 and he has become an important, loving member of our family.

Brownie lives with us in the Ohio City area of Cleveland. He has a large fenced yard to run and play in and is a favorite of all the neighborhood kids (and adults). Brownie, like his dad, is a little gray around the edges but has a youthful exuberant spirit. He enjoys watching the urban hustle and bustle from the front porch and our families vacations on the coast of Maine. It is hard to imagine our lives without Brownie.

Thank you LABMED for helping to bring this amiable, loving gentleman into our family."
