Candy, June 1999

Candy A woman and her children were playing at a Georgia park when they were approached by a little yellow Lab. The skinny dog was covered with fleas and her ears were bleeding from many black fly bites. In spite of her miserable condition, the Lab was gentle with the children, licking their hands and wagging her tail. The woman could not leave the Lab at the park in such a desperate state, so she took the little lady dog home, calling her Candy. She described Candy as "beautiful, inside and out."

Candy was very lucky to have found this particular person as her rescuer. She worked very hard with both the local shelter and the local lab rescue group (Labrador Rescue Association of Georgia) to make sure that Candy would be taken care of. LABMED was able to help by funding the cost of some of Candy's extensive medical care, including surgery to remove a mass found near one of her nipples. Candy is well on her way to being healthy again and has already been placed in a permanent home and her new people adore her! Congratulations, Candy.
