Success Stories

Dakota5, March 2002

Dakota5 Dakota is a black male Lab that was found in a shelter in PA. One of the shelter workers called SouthWest Pennsylvania Retriever Rescue about him after he had been in the shelter for a while. When Dakota was taken in for vaccinations and a veterinary examination, he was found to have heartworms.

LABMED helped to fund the heartworm treatment for Dakota. Dakota is a BIG boy, weighing in at 125 pounds. Someone had obviously fed him well before he went to the shelter, but he was not given heartworm preventative to protect him from this deadly parasite. A pill, administered once a month is all it takes to keep a dog free of heartworms.

Dakota5After some serious complications from the heartworm treatment, Dakota (now named Cody) is well and happy. He has been adopted! We have some new pictures of Cody with his new family.
