Success Stories

Destiny, January 2004

Destiny

When this young black Lab mix was found wandering along a road in Taylor County, WV, she was dragging a 15 foot chain that had been put around her neck and padlocked. The chain had grown into her neck and had to be surgically removed. The resulting wound needed to be cleaned daily, and Destiny was given antibiotics to combat any possible infection.

Destiny recovered well from her surgery, and was happy to go home with her foster mom for some much needed tender loving care! When she is fully recovered, Destiny will be spayed and then a new home will be found for her where she will be properly cared for and appropriately confined. We'll never know how Destiny managed to break free, but luckily for her she not only escaped from her life on a chain but found wonderful, loving rescuers to help her move on to a new life.
