Success Stories

Dodger, August, 2000

DodgerEveryone needs someone to look after them, and dogs are no exception.

Dodger, a yellow male, wasn't given the proper care and attention required to keep a canine companion healthy and happy. Ever since the divorce, Dodger's family didn't seem to have any time for him. He was no longer welcome in his home of 8 years, and Dodger soon found himself in the care of Stanislaus County (California) Animal Control.

Neglect can take its toll on a dog. Dodger had an abscess from impacted anal glands. He also had foxtails in his Labby ears. To top it off, he developed arthritis in his spine, and this was slowing the 8 year young Lab.

Labradors are stoic, intelligent, loyal, and loving dogs. These words describe Dodger perfectly, and this is why Central California Labrador Retriever Rescue saved this dog from a certain early death.

DodgerDodger was given professional medical care. Luckily a positive prognosis was given, but immediate treatment would be required. What could CCLRR do? LABMED was contacted and helped to fund Dodger's treatment.

Dodger is doing well. He is described as simply WONDERFUL. His rescuer commented, "The difference in his personality is amazing...poor boy...he must have been in so much pain." Teamwork and cooperation has allowed Dodger to regain his health. Hopefully he will be able to spend Christmas in his new forever home
