Ellie Mae, February, 2000

Ellie Mae This good looking blonde girl did not have a mansion in Beverly Hills like her namesake, she was a stray in Elk Grove, CA. She was at the shelter for two weeks and when her rescuer found her, she had a bad case of kennel cough that turned into pneumonia. Her temperature was up, she had nasal discharge and was not eating. The rescuer took Ellie Mae to a vet and they started treatment right away. She responded well to the antibiotics.

When LABMED was contacted, Ellie Mae was already getting better, still congested and with a runny nose, but definitely on the mend. LABMED decided to fund Ellie Mae's treatment. She had to stay at the vet's for a few more days, then went home to her rescuers who will foster her until she can find a suitable home.

The rescuer told LABMED they think Ellie Mae is a special girl and that her new home will have to meet pretty strict guidelines before they can adopt her. Ellie Mae is well mannered, loves children, other dogs and even cats.
