Gelert, February 2004

Gelert

Gelert is a 3 month old male Lab black puppy who was part of a litter found on the side of the road in Raleigh, NC. The puppies were taken to a local shelter and Gelert was quickly adopted by his new owner. A few days later, however, Gelert became very ill with Parvo virus and spent several very expensive days at the vet being treated. His new owner contacted LABMED for help with these unexpected bills, and we were happy to help contribute to Gelert's second chance.

Gelert's new owner sent us this wonderful update: "I am extremely happy to report that Gelert seems to have made a full recovery. He had a white blood cell count taken this past Saturday and the results show his immune system is back to normal levels. The vet recommended he doesn't go out to see too many other dogs and people yet until he gets his next round of immunizations, but I did take him for his first walk on a leash yesterday. He loved it!!! I am looking forward to getting him out more after his shots in a few weeks ...and I think he is as well :-) He is definitely becoming a normal puppy though, his appetite has returned, and he wants to play, play, (chew something) and play!!! Aside from the shaved areas on his legs you'd never guess he had been thru such trauma."
