Goodyear, December 2003

Goodyear

A Good Samaritan found an injured black Lab in San Antonio, Texas and
brought him to the clinic of a wonderful veterinarian. Her sister in law had helped with Lab rescue in the past and offered to keep Goodyear until his owner or a new home was found for him.

X-rays showed that the dog had a dislocated hip and would require major surgery. It was thought that the injury was probably caused when the dog was hit by a car. Soon this sweet Lab had a name 'Goodyear'. Despite being in pain from his injury, Goodyear was a friendly dog and loved children and cats. A lost ad was placed in the paper and when several days went by and no one had called about the dog the kind vet decided that Goodyear could not wait any longer for surgery for his injury.

A veterinary orthopedic surgeon was contacted and agreed to perform the femoral head ostectomy (FHO) that Goodyear needed at a reduced fee. LABMED was contacted and was able to assist with the surgery fee also. A few days after his surgery Goodyear's owners were located but they had no interest in paying for his vet bill or even taking the dog back.

Goodyear is recovering from surgery and is looking forward to a good year with a new caring owner.
