Success Stories

Haley2, June 2004

Haley is a three year old chocolate lab from the Vincennes Pet Port Shelter in Indiana. Fortunate Pooches and Lab Rescue took Haley into their care to give her a second chance.

Haley is one of the many Lab and Lab-mixes whose heartworm treatment was funded with help from LABMED. Haley is one of the lucky ones who can look forward to a healthy life as long as she receives heartworm preventive on a regular basis. Heartworm prevention is easy, but the treatment if the dog gets heartworm, can be very hard on a dog.

Unfortunately, Haley was on of those dogs who suffered a complication during her heartworm treatment. Fortunately Haley recovered from her complications. LABMED was glad they were able to assist with funding to help Haley recover from her treatment complications.

Please help us to educate dog owners about heartworm disease. Not everyone is aware of how life-threatening heartworms can be and how EASY it is to prevent them. Administering heartworm preventative on a regular basis is part of responsible dog ownership.
