Success Stories

Heidi, July 1998

HeidiHeidi is a friendly, sweet, 4 or 5 year old yellow female that has exhibited remarkable Labrador spirit. Heidi and two puppies, probably hers, were dumped on a road in Texas. Heidi was very neglected and her mouth was injured and bleeding from a kick or blow. All of her lower incisors were knocked loose, along with most of her upper incisors.

DFW Lab Rescue took her in and is working to get her ready for a new home. The first task was to have many teeth extracted to alleviate the pain and infection from her mouth injury. Luckily her jaw was not fractured. As is the case with so many neglected dogs, Heidi also needed heartworm treatment. Heartworms are sometimes difficult to treat, and Heidi developed some complications requiring her to be hospitalized for several days. She is on the road to recovery in foster care. LABMED helped DFW Lab Resue fund Heidi's heartworm treatment and hospital stay. With her sweet disposition and forgiving nature, Heidi will make a wonderful new addition to someone's family.
