Success Stories

Hersey, January 2004

Hersey

Hersey, a six-year-old chocolate Lab, had been lost for several weeks prior to his coming to Labrador Retriever Rescue of Connecticut. When found, he was very thin, loaded with ticks and intestinal parasites, and infected with Lyme disease. In addition to these typical challenges facing a rescued dog, Hersey was in a lot of pain due to an unknown blockage in his intestinal tract. His owner surrendered Hersey to the rescue group because of recent job loss and illness in the family.

With LABMEDs financal help, emergency surgery recovered a sock from Herseys tummy a life-threatening situation! Now known as the the sock dog at the vets office, they dont anticipate any future problems from his weird eating habits!

Hersey found a forever family who adores him for being a shy, mellow marshmallow--and his new best four-legged friend is a gorgeous blonde (yellow Lab, of course!).
