Success Stories

Hunter4, July 2002

Hunter4` Hunter, a 1-year-old black Lab of 52 pounds, was fortunate to be rescued from his abysmal containment with 5 abandoned Lab pups in a shed in Pennsylvania. All were examined and treated for minor problems, but Hunter was lame as a result of severe hip dysplasia, which could require either a hip replacement or a femoral head osteotomy (FHO) surgical procedure.

Because of Hunter's age and size, the treating veterinarian felt that a FHO was the better means of giving this young dog a comfortable, active life. How wonderful for Hunter that the veterinarian was willing to grant a rescue discount and that the applicant was willing to contribute part of the fee. LABMED stepped in and picked up the balance, and Hunter recovered fully, getting his second chance thanks to everyone working as a team!
