Inky, October 2001

InkyInky, a three month old black female, was brought to the Paragould, AR shelter with a broken or dislocated hip. The shelter director applied to LABMED for emergency help; funds are perpetually short at this shelter and the director could not afford to have Inky treated.

LABMED decided quickly to help this puppy and Inky was taken to the vet for pre-surgery evaluation. The vet determined that Inky had a broken femur and that the injury was already days old. Inky went into surgery almost immediately but it did not work out well for her. Inky had extensive muscle damage and the shelter director and vet agreed that it would be best to let her go peacefully.

Although Inky's story does not have the happy ending we had hoped for, at least with the support of LABMED Inky was given every possible chance for recovery from her injuries, and spent her final hours in a warm and loving environment. Sleep well, Inky.
