Success Stories
Jessie, June 1998
Jessie, a gentle black lab, spent the first seven years of her life as a brood bitch in a puppy mill.
Central Indiana Labrador Retriever Rescue rescued her from the puppy mill and began to rehabilitate her. Like many dogs that live in the deplorable conditions of a puppy mill, Jessie had several
broken teeth, most likely due to chewing her wire cage out of boredom. Jessie also had an abscess on the side of her face that wouldn't heal despite several weeks of antibiotic treatment. Dental
x-rays revealed that the abscess was originating from the left front canine tooth, which would require extraction to heal properly. LABMED funded the surgery necessary to extract the affected canine,
as well as a second tooth that was broken down to the root. Jessie is also being treated for an ear infection, but once she is healed, she will be ready for her new life in a loving home.
