Success Stories

Joe, March, 2000

JoeA black Lab wandered up to a Florida residence. Could he read the "welcome" on the mat? Probably not, but Joe luckily wandered into the right neighborhood. He was quickly taken in and treated like one of the family.

Joe was a stray and numerous attempts were made to locate the owner. At 103 lbs., he couldn't have been on the streets for long. A collar with tags or a microchip could have been his ticket home, but he had neither. His owner was never located.

Joe's rescuer was told to get a heartworm check. The results came back positive! Another homeless Lab with heartworms. The Wesley Chapel vet gave Joe a good prognosis. Joe was on the heavy side, so the cost for treatment was high. This is where LABMED stepped in to help out.

Joe relaxed in a temporary foster home after his heartworm treatment. After a month of R ∓ R, he went to his forever home. Two paws up for Joe and LABMED!
