Jojo, September 2003
Jojo is a handsome 4 year old black male Lab-mix who was surrendered to a rescue organization when his owner was evicted from her home. Jojo tested positive for heartworms, as is the case with many of the rescued dogs that LABMED is asked to help. While prevention of heartworms is simple, the treatment is very stressful for a dog, requiring hospitalization and many weeks of limited activity to prevent damage to the lungs as the adult heartworms die.
Jojo tolerated his treatment and enforced confinement well (although keeping an active retriever quiet is a real challenge!) and can look forward to a happy, healthy and active life with his new family, thanks to financial assistance from LABMED.
