Success Stories

Katie, October 1998

Katie In the prime of her life, 3 year old Katie was found wandering as a stray, and subsequently turned into the local Humane Society. Testing positive for Heartworm, and having apparent cruciate ligament damage in both knees, Katie really deserved a change for the better! Luckily, she was rescued by members of Labrador Retriever Rescue of Indiana, who contacted LABMED about her plight. As of this writing, LABMED has offered to immediately fund Katie's heartworm treatment while second opinions are sought on what to do about her knees. (LABMED has also decided to fund Katie's xrays as part of this second opinion gathering) Katie is currently in a foster home where she will stay throughout the course of her heartworm treatment. Be sure and check back for news about Katie (and all the other dogs LABMED has helped) by visiting the Success Stories page from time to time. Please Join LABMED in wishing Katie a speedy recovery from her heartworm ordeal, and remember, this is one possibly fatal disease that can be prevented!
