Success Stories

Lady4, August, 2000

LadyThis 2 year old yellow girl was turned in to the Indianapolis Humane Society as a stray. The staff at the Humane Society tracked down Lady's owner but the owner refused to take her back.

Labrador Retriever Rescue of Indiana found out about Lady and one of their volunteers took her from the shelter and found a foster home for her. To get Lady ready for adoption, they took her to a vet for shots and a check-up. Lady seemed healthy, though a bit over weight. But her heartworm test was positive and LRRI just didn't have the money to pay for the treatment. Lady's rescuer had worked with LABMED before and since they could not raise the money for Lady's treatment locally, they applied to LABMED for help. LABMED was glad to be able to help Lady and decided to fund her treatment.

Lady went to a foster home for the recovery period. She is doing great now and the foster family is taking care of her very well. She will soon be ready to go to her forever home.
