Success Stories

Lucky2, October, 2000

LuckyLucky was found wandering sadly in a deserted parking lot. Fortunately, he was noticed by a kindly woman who quickly made friends with the big black Lab while she looked around for his owners. While searching the neighborhood, the woman spoke with the attendant at a nearby gas station who reported having seen Lucky pushed from a truck! So Lucky went home with his rescuer, who had already decided to keep him forever.

But all did not go smoothly for Lucky at first. A routine visit to the vet revealed that Lucky had heartworm, a potentially life-threatening condition. Lucky's new mom could not afford the necessary treatment, but she was determined to keep Lucky and to restore him to health. She contacted CILRA for assistance, and they recommended that LABMED be asked to help fund Lucky's medical care also.

With LABMED's assistance, Lucky was treated for heartworm and came through with flying colors. Lucky is now happily settled down in his new home, where he is receiving the love and attention he deserves.
