Lucky8, September 2002

Lucky8

At the age of 2, this 86-pound female black Lab was turned over to a shelter, where a volunteer from Morning Star Animal Shelter in Hamilton, Georgia stepped in to help. Lucky's former owners had gotten rid of her because they wanted to landscape their backyard and sell their house. Until her rescuer stepped in, Lucky's unlucky fate had been life in a backyard without heartworm preventive care.

Needless to say, this gentle Lab was heartworm positive, and her case was severe. Her rescuer agreed to foster her and provide tender loving care for as long as necessary, during treatment and afterward, until a home with people committed to Lucky's well-being could be found. The treating veterinarian graciously granted a rescue discount, and LABMED stepped in to help with Lucky's fees. By now, we hope Lucky has found the home she deserves!
