Lucy's rescuer was driving on an Arkansas road in a cold rain when she saw a black Lab lying beside the road. She stopped and took Lucy to a vet, where she was found to have a badly broken femur and hip. Lucy was also heartworm positive. The rescuer was a student, so she sent an emergency application to LABMED for funding.
LABMED helped with funding for Lucy's surgery. She came through
fine, in spite of the heartworms. Lucy's rescuer will foster her until she
recovers
enough to be adopted.
