Success Stories

Maddie3, February 2003

As told by Maddie's rescuer:

Maddie3

Maddie was an owner-surrendered dog that became injured while playing in her back yard. However, no one saw what happened to cause her accident. Her owner's didn't want to keep her any more and they didn't want to pay for her surgery because she wouldn't be able to hunt any more. Unfortunately, Maddie is not a hunting dog anyway as she doesn't care much for retrieving or birds; she just wants to play.

I was told that they were going to euthanize her, but someone told them about Lab Rescue, and they called us instead. We had Maddie's injured ligament repaired and now she is doing great.

We are walking now every day, she is starting to play with my dogs some under my supervision. She still can't run or play rough. She loves people, and she is wonderful with my 5 year old daughter. She gets along very well with all of my dogs, and even my cat!

She sleeps in the crate every night, and she had only one accident so far, but it was my fault. I slept in last weekend, and didn't let her out in time. We are all enjoying her company here, and I hope she finds her forever home soon. Thanks again for all of your help!
