Success Stories
Maura, October 1998
Scared and limping, little Maura was running loose in the street and made her way to the front porch of a
young family in Barberton, Ohio. The family contacted the Lake Erie Labrador Rescue group, hoping they could be of help. Because they were overwhelmed with other rescues, Lake Erie made arrangements
for Maura to be picked up and fostered by a member of Hearts & Paws, an all breed rescue organization in Canal Fulton, Ohio. In addition to exhibiting stiffness in getting up, Maura had a large
hygroma (pressure sore) on her elbow. Once room was available, Lake Erie reassumed the fostering of Maura. It was at this time they decided to contact LABMED to ask for assistance in funding Maura's
recommended surgery to remove the large baseball sized hygroma, and the post-operation drain tube. LABMED agreed to provide the funding, and Maura has since received her surgery and is currently
recuperating and enjoying the benefits of a loving foster home. LABMED hopes that Maura finds that very special adoptive home soon.
