Success Stories

Michelin, April 2004

Michelin's story as told by his rescuer:

Michelin

Michelin is a sweet, 4 year-old black Lab who came to Labrador Rescue of Florida after being picked up by Animal Control. He had been hit by a car, and was not moving his right hind leg. Initial exam and x-rays showed two broken pelvic bones, and questionable neurological involvement. He went home with his foster parents, but developed breathing difficulties, and had to be taken to the emergency room, where a chest x-ray showed a torn diaphragm. His liver had been displaced into his chest, and his lungs could not expand!

Through support of LABMED, he had successful emergency surgery, and is now recovering nicely at his foster home. He is now bearing weight on both hind legs, and is well on his way to regaining full function and will soon be adopted into his FUR-ever home.
