Success StoriesMick, June 2003Mick is the June Max's Memorial Fund Dog
We will never know where this handsome chocolate Lab spent the first seven years of his life but we do know where he ended up: he was found wandering as a stray near Charleston, SC. Mick was taken to a county shelter but he was not claimed by anyone. Lowcountry Lab Rescue found Mick listed on the shelter's web site and promptly rescued him from the shelter. A visit to the vet revealed that Mick had heartworms. Luckily, Mick did not exhibit any severe symptoms of heartworm disease, resulting in a good outlook for treatment. Mick appeared to be in excellent health otherwise. The vet was impressed with Mick's good disposition and remarked that he seemed to be a very well adjusted dog. Lowcountry Lab Rescue paid for the adoption fee from the shelter and assumed responsibility for all of Mick's routine medical costs, including neuter surgery and vaccinations. LABMED was asked for help in paying for the costs of heartworm treatment and we were happy to contribute to a second chance for Mick. Once he has recovered from the heartworm treatment, Mick will be ready to be the perfect pet for a lucky family! |
