Success Stories

Midnight, September 2000

Midnight Midnight is a two year old black Labrador Retriever who had a rocky start in life. He spent those first two years tied in the back yard with little attention and less medical care. Fortunately, after the owner was reported to the county because another one of her dogs had a rope embedded in its neck, Animal Control rescued all the dogs from this owner. Midnight was taken to a lady who does Labrador Retriever rescue in Savannah, Georgia and from there his life started to get better. This rescuer introduced Midnight to the joys of pettings, hugs, and car rides. It looked like everything was turning around for Midnight. Unfortunately, there was one snag; a routine wellness check revealed that Midnight was heartworm positive. Midnight's rescuer was determined to get him treated. While searching for funding, she contacted another Lab Rescue person who steered her towards LABMED.

LABMED was happy to help out. With some tender, loving care provided by his foster home and some medicine provided by his veterinarian (with LABMED's help), Midnight is on his way to a wonderful life. Although he is still awaiting his forever home, Midnight is learning to enjoy life.
