Molasses, May 2003

Molasses

Molasses! The perfect sounding name for a chocolate female Lab of four months of age. Unfortunately, her life was not as perfect as her name.

Her owner accidentally backed over Molasses with a car. Although they had kept her up to date on her shots and heartworm prevention, they felt they could not afford to have her injuries (femoral neck fracture of the hind leg) repaired by the veterinarian. Thus, they asked the vet in Winston-Salem, NC, to euthanize her.

Instead the technician asked if they would sign the dog over to them to have her adopted. The family did so. The internet is responsible for the concerned parties finding LABMED and requesting help with financial aid. Once again, LABMED came to the rescue.

Surgery was performed and Molasses is healing nicely. Prognosis is good to excellent. Molasses' story is sweet and chocolate coated.
