Success StoriesNicki, April 2006Nicki is the Buddy Arnold Memorial Fund Dog for April, 2006.
Nicki was a young dog when he was found, abandoned, with an embedded collar injury and swollen, painful joints. An embedded collar is when an owner leaves a small collar on a dog as he grows; as the dog's neck becomes bigger, the collar becomes too tight, and the skin grows around it. This can be very painful and lead to dangerous infection. Nicki's rescuers took him to the vet, and found that his joint problems were due to Lyme disease. LABMED helped with the cost of Nicki's medication, putting him on the road to recovery. Your dog can be vaccinated for Lyme disease; ask your veterinarian if the vaccine is right for your dog. |
