Success Stories
Pumba, November 2004
Pumba is the November Buddy
Arnold Memorial Fund Dog
Pumba was rescued from a shelter just before he was scheduled to be euthanized. He suffered from a painful total blockage of his ear canal and a hematoma on the outer lobe. The best way to relieve his condition was a Total Ear Ablation, which involves removing the entire ear canal and closing the opening to the outside. This surgery is difficult, but has a high success rate, and because the underlying condition has usually affected hearing, the surgery itself does not diminish hearing further.
Pumba's rescuer applied to LABMED for assistance, and we were happy to help pay for his surgery with funds from the Buddy Arnold Memorial Fund.
