Success Stories

Sally, May, 2000

Sally There is an old saying that dogs were created with three legs and a spare - anyone who sees Sally bounding around on her three legs will be convinced that this is true! Sally was found in northern Michigan by some campers. This lovely little 8 month old yellow Lab was wandering around with a badly broken and infected front leg. Michigan Lab Rescue was contacted, and a foster home was quickly found for Sally.

Examination of Sally's leg by a vet revealed that her injuries were probably several months old. It was too late to save Sally's leg, but with the damaged leg amputated, Sally had a good chance for a healthy life. Sally's foster home had already decided to adopt her if funds could be found for the needed surgery. LABMED was happy to be able to help!

The months that Sally had spent hobbling around with an injured leg made the transition to three-legged life an easy one for her. In no time at all Sally was romping and playing with the other rescued dogs in her adoptive family. Sally has settled down nicely in her new home, happy to be loved and cherished at last.
